About the Meat Free Monday Resolution

San Francisco was the first city in the U.S. to adopt a VEG DAY MONDAYS RESOLUTION on April 6, 2010 by its Board of Supervisors. The San Francisco Vegetarian Society, along with In Defense of Animals, is proud to have been the guiding force behind getting the resolution passed. [more info] [view video]


Meatless Monday is a non-profit initiative of The Monday Campaigns, in association with the Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health.  Presidents Wilson, Truman and Roosevelt galvanized the nation with voluntary meatless days during both world wars. [more info]

On May 6th 2009, the city of Ghent in Belgium became the first city in the world to adopt one meatless day a week. [more info]
